Description:

This 90-minute session reviews NJDEP guidance on the use of capping as a remedial option for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) impacting the Migration to Groundwater (MGW) pathway. The presentation covers the regulatory framework behind the policy change allowing VOC capping, cap design and material considerations, and the requirement to remove free and residual product before capping.

Additional topics include: 

• Site scenarios with and without groundwater contamination
• Soil vapor screening levels and sampling requirements
• Vertical separation considerations for petroleum contamination
• The documentation required for NJDEP review. 

The session concludes with a Q&A discussion on implementation and best practices.
